Arrest made in alleged rape

A Birmingham man has been charged in connection with an alleged rape of a Morgan County woman last year.
The woman reported the rape September 2006 in an alley in the northwest section of Decatur. She was unable to identify her attacker, but DNA taken from the victim led police to Craig Steven Bailey. A Morgan County grand jury later indicted Bailey on charges of rape in the first degree. Bailey turned himself in to the Decatur police last week. He was taken to the Morgan County Jail and held on $20,000 bond.
If convicted, Bailey faces up to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $60,000.
