Junior Miss seeking participants

The 2008 Morgan County Junior Miss Scholarship Program will be at Decatur High School Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.
The first practice is Sunday, Aug. 26, from 1:30-6 p.m. at Encore Sports Enhancement Center, 1905 Central Parkway, Decatur. This is a mandatory practice.
If you plan on being in the program this year and cannot attend this first practice, you must get clearance from Choreographer Tonya Jones, 318-2512.
Any high school senior girl with primary residence in Morgan County is eligible to participate. The Morgan County Junior Miss Scholarship Program has awarded $35,350 in cash scholarships since it was reactivated in 2001.
The current Morgan County Junior Miss, Mary Catherine McAnnally, is the current Alabama's Junior Miss and received $26,000 in cash scholarships plus a full four-year scholarship to Birmingham Southern College by participating in local, state, and national programs. The mission of America's Junior Miss is to emphasize education by providing scholarship opportunities to outstanding, college-bound high school girls, and to encourage personal development in all young people.
America's Junior Miss was founded in 1958 and is headquartered in Mobile. More than 700,000 young women from across the nation have participated in Junior Miss programs at the local, state and national levels. In addition to cash scholarships, Junior Miss participants are eligible for college-granted scholarships from nearly 200 colleges and universities.
