MCHS Class of '43 conducts 64th reunion

The Morgan County High School Class of 1943 held their 64th Class Reunion at the Cabin Grill in Hartselle recently with 15 members participating.
This class is unique in that many of its members have kept in close contact over the years. They now meet every two years to visit, enjoy dinner together and reminisce.
Some members of the class served in the armed forces during World War II. One of its members dropped out of school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Arizona and was killed during the Japanese invasion of Pearl Harbor.
Others achieved success in a number of different career fields. One class member was a doctor and three female members married doctors, two were pharmacists and owned a drug store, several were nurses and there was a dietician, textile workers, a forester, a restaurant owner, a banker and a construction superintendent for TVA.
One of its members worked for BellSouth Telephone Co. and one of the girls married a pastor and they served as missionaries. Several earned higher degrees after serving their country in World War II and rose to high positions in their chosen fields. Two members are active in researching genealogy and have written several books. There was a home demonstration agent and a beautician who owned her own shop.
Class members agree that their teachers had a big influence on their lives, by instilling in them the belief that they could achieve much if the desire was great enough to stay on task.
