A man accused of stealing items from a local radio tower and then firing on a man who tried to stop him was arrested last week in Huntsville.
The Morgan County Drug Task Force and the Madison-Morgan County STAC team arrested Scott Wayne Crook Sept. 13 at the Econolodge in Huntsville. Crook is charged with attempted murder, robbery in the first degree, unlawful manufacturing in the first degree, possession of a controlled substance and violating the drug endangered children's act.
Crook's arrest follows a Aug. 29 incident when he and another man, Tony Flack, were allegedly stealing items from the transmitter for WRSA when they were approached by Tommy Macpherson and his daughter. Crook and Flack allegedly fired several shots at Macpherson and his daughter as they tried to leave.
Morgan County deputies caught up with Crook in the van he was driving. He led deputies on a high speed chase while Flack threw items from the van. The chase went into Marshall County and the van eventually went off the road. Crook and Flack fled on foot.
During the search for Crook, deputies went to the home he shared with girlfriend Candy Flippo and her daughter. Agents discovered a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory and Flippo and two other of the home's occupants were arrested. Flippo was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacturing in the first degree and violating the drug endangered children's act.
She is in the Morgan County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Flack was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with attempted murder and robbery in the first degree. He was given $20,000 bond.
Agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force and the Madison-Morgan County STAC Team, deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office and officers from Huntsville Police Department attempted to locate Crook at several locations in the Morgan and Madison Counties with no avail. He was later found at Econo Lodge in South Parkway in Huntsville.
Crook is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $101,000 bond and has outstanding warrants in Huntsville.
