Health care for children is a grand idea. But not the kludged up bunch of political tripe cobbled up by both self centered Democrat and Republican politicians looking to sustain themselves in power driven Washington D.C.
Poor families need help not rich families. Nothing more than vote buying! Health care financed by additional tobacco tax?
Hogwash, tobacco is targeted and destined to be eradicated. And as tobacco use goes down, the tax will have to go to $10/25 per pack to make up the shortfall or, as usual, the tax will, by necessity, come from another tax. Like everything else Congress does, no serious thought enters into their efforts, unless it's to benefit their self centered greedy selves.
Everything Bush touches has been dead wrong, and you can't trust him any farther than you can throw him, but his veto of this particular bill is the right on the mark. Force Congress to do it right or not at all. I believe this was deliberately concocted to be vetoed. Politics, nothing but pure politics.
