Funeral for James A. Watkins, 85, of Valhermoso Springs was Monday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Aldridge officiating. Burial was in Moss Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Watkins died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at his residence. He was born June 8, 1922, in Morgan County to Carley Albert Watkins and Viola Holt Watkins. He was a Baptist. He is survived by a stepson, James Moore of Danville; a stepdaughter, Pearl Haga of Valhermoso Springs; a daughter, Willodean Watkins Mardis of Moulton; two sisters, Annie Heidt of Hartselle and Pearl Ashley of Birmingham; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Justin Garrison, B. J. Garrison, Allan Garrison, Patrick Stover, Shawn Ballenger and Michael Mardis.
