Funeral for Robert Leon Wallace, 84, of Neel was Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at Neel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Mason Booth and Tom Campbell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Wallace died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Morgan County to Charlie Virgil Wallace and Effie Lorell Puckett Wallace. He was a lifelong member of Neel United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy. He was chairman of the Johnson Chapel Cemetery Committee for 18 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Dwight "Buddy" Wallace, brother-in-law, Glynn Russell; and sister-in-law, Mary Ryan Wallace.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Sue Poole Wallace of Neel; a son, Larry Wallace and wife Velma of Hartselle; two daughters, Vonee Mitchell of Hartselle and Janis Spinks and husband Tommy of Neel; a brother, Donald Wallace; six sisters, Edith Long and husband Buey, Polly James and husband Charles Lee, Elsie Pike, Mary McCay and husband Johnny, Jonnie Russell and Charlcie Montgomery; five grandchildren, Nick Wallace and wife Maggie, Brad Wallace and wife Emily, Wes, Jordan and Colton Spinks; and two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and MaKenna Wallace.
