A graveside service for Samuel David Shelton, 61, of Decatur was Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 12:30 p.m. in Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Clyde Ledlow officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Eulogy was read by Wayne Tapscott.
Mr. Shelton died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He was born July 10, 1946, in Lawrence County, Tenn., to Colin Green Shelton and Vivian Williams Shelton. He was a retired consulting industrial engineer employed by Western Express. Mr. Shelton was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette Speegle Shelton of Decatur; a son, Shaun Montgomery and wife Angie of Moulton; a brother, Colin "Bud" Shelton and wife Mary Alice of Blackshear, Ga.; a sister, Gretchen Thompson and husband Wayne of Atlanta, Ga.; and a grandson, Xander Blake Montgomery.
Pallbearers were Shaun Montgomery, John Crowell, John Starks, Tommy Lecroix, Jerry Morrow, Bobby Davis, Tom Free and Wayne Tapscott.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Western Express.
