Hartselle Junior High School's students and faculty will present their 12th annual Veterans Day Celebration Thursday, Nov. 8, at 1:15 p.m. in the school gymnasium.
Veterans of all branches of service-Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard-are invited. It doesn't matter when or where they served. Active duty military personnel are included.
In preparation for the patriotic event, students are invited to extend formal invitations to family members. Star cutouts with the names and branches of service of these honorees are displayed on the "Wall of Heroes."
Veterans are asked to park in the J.P. Cain Stadium parking lot and arrive in time to be seated in the school cafeteria not later than 1 p.m. From there they will walk down the "Hall of Heroes" and be seated on the bleacher side of the gym, youngest to oldest from top to bottom.
The student-driven program will feature performances by the school band and chorus as well as readings of prize-winning essays on the subject of "What Is A Veteran?"
Veterans will be honored both as a group and according to the branch of service in which they served. The John Frank Parker Patriotic Award will be presented at the conclusion of the program.
