Wallace State Community College in Hanceville will sponsor a trip to Italy from March 22-30, 2008, which is open to students and members of the community.
The nine-day itinerary will include visits to Venice, Florence, Assisi and Rome, with optional excursions to Siena and Pompeii. Among the many attractions participants will visit are St. Mark's Square, the Grand Canal and the Doges' Palace in Venice; the Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, Chiesa di Santa Croce, and Gates of Paradise in Florence; the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi; and the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain in Rome.
The cost of the trip ranges from $2,404 to $2,939, and includes roundtrip airfare from Birmingham, seven overnight stays in hotels with private bathrooms, breakfast and dinner each day, a full-time bilingual tour guide, ground transportation, guided tours, and admission costs for included attractions. Tour arrangements will be made through educational tour provider EF Tours.
The deadline to enroll in the trip to Italy is Dec.14. Those who want to take advantage of a monthly payment plan must enroll by Nov. 14. The payment plan breaks the total cost of the trip into four monthly installments, with the last payment due on Feb. 16. Enrollments made after the December deadline are subject to a $125 late fee.
Two come-and-go orientation sessions will be held to provide additional information about the trip, and to help participants get enrolled. The first will be held on Tuesday, October 30 in Conference Room on the 11th floor of the Bailey Center. The second will be held on Nov. 6, in the lobby of the Student Center. Those interested are invited to stop by either session anytime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
