Hartselle alum has solid fall with Blazers

BIRMINGHAM - Former Hartselle standout Brandon Wallace finished UAB’s fall baseball camp with a strong outing in the annual Green vs. Gold series in preparation for his final season with the Blazers.
Wallace, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound senior, struck out five and allowed just one run in his three innings of work during the series.
The seven-game series concluded UAB’s 33-day fall camp.
The Blazers return 19 letterwinners from last season’s club and have added 14 newcomers.
Wallace finished the 2007 season with a 2-4 record in 21 appearances. He had a 4.71 ERA and led the Blazers with four saves.
Wallace, who played for William Booth at Hartselle for three years, also had 24 strikeouts in 63 innings.
UAB head coach Brian Shoop said overall he was pleased with the camp and progression of the returning veterans.
In the team’s seven-game Green vs. Gold series this fall, Keedy, a senior first baseman, hit .429 with an RBIs and three walks.
Hardy hit .417 with three runs scored, a double and one triple.
Junior catcher/infielder Allen Aubin shined in the series as well, batting .500 with two RBI, two doubles and a home run, while fellow Green teammate Austin Taylor, a junior outfielder in his first season with the Blazers, hit .667 with an RBI and three walks.
