DVD movie rentals are now available in Hartselle from a vending machine located at Hometown Market thanks to Shaun Woods, systems administrator for the City of Hartselle.
Woods launched his DVD vending business Nov. 9 with 35 new release movie titles. He plans to add new ones as they become available until the machine reaches its capacity of 112.
The current listing includes box office hits such as “Ocean’s Thirteen” and “Hair Spray.” He expects to add “Santa Claus III” and “Live Free Or Die” on Friday after Thanksgiving.
The movies rent for $1.79 plus tax per day. Each additional day rented costs $1.79 plus tax.
The vending machine accepts American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards.
The vending machine displays DVDs so the customer can easily see them. It also has a video screen that gives a running preview of each title. Once the machine has released the video of the customer’s choice, he or she has five minutes to decide whether they want to keep it or return it without charge.
Woods said his DVDs might also be purchased by the customer at the listed price.
