Hartselle’s annual Christmas Parade promises to add a lot of color, excitement and enjoyment to the holiday season when it unfolds in the Central Business District Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
Sponsored by Hartselle Kiwanis Club, the popular yuletide event will feature several handcrafted floats, Hartselle High School marching band and Santa with a big bag of candy for the kids.
The theme “My Christmas Wish” was chosen to tie in with SNAP (Special Needs Assessment Playground), a joint project of the Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions clubs. Various fundraisers have been conducted throughout the county over the past year to raise $600,000 for the playground. The target date for construction to begin is next spring.
A signup is now being conducted for individuals, businesses, churches and community organizations that want to participate in the parade, according to Capt, Tom Sparks, parade coordinator.
Parade entry permits may be obtained at the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce Office in The Depot from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Entry fees are $10 per horse and rider and $15 each for all other units. Parade rules and float judging information is also available.
