Unlicensed drivers face impoundment
By Staff
Drivers who venture out without a license will now face having their vehicle impounded.
Hartselle’s City Council passed the impound ordinance last week. It’s similar to ones in Athens and Madison.
Those caught driving without a license will have their car impounded and be required to pay towing and storage fees, as well a $25 administration fee.
If those fees are not paid within 60 days, the storage facility can sell the car.
The police department will have an option not to impound a vehicle in the event of an emergency or if the non-licensed driver has a licensed relative in the car with them.
