Nov. 22, 1957-Several Hartselle workers at Redstone Arsenal had the opportunity today to show Representative Gerald Ford of Michigan some of the important missile development work in which they are currently engaged.
Nov. 23, 1957-An arrest has been made in connection with the theft of a purse from Smith’s Restaurant here a few days ago. The suspect, a 16-year-old rural Morgan County resident, is in jail for stealing a purse belonging to the proprietress, Mrs. Estelle Smith, and which ontained $50, all but $4 of which was missing when the item was located.
Nov. 24, 1957-MCHS Coach J. P. Cain is a busy man indeed. Only one night after his football team was playing and defeating St. Bernard, his cagers were opening the basketball season (Trinity was also a Tiger victim).
Nov. 24, 1957-The Haleyville Textile Mills plant located in Hartselle will be permanently shut down by December 1, according to an announcement from Julius Kayser Co. of New York.
Nov. 25, 1957-Bob Orr of Hartselle was initiated into the UA chapter of Phi Beta Kappa tonight.
Nov. 25, 1957-Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ramey, Hartselle 1, are the proud parents of a baby boy born this morning at Baugh-Wiley-Smith Clinic in Decatur.
Nov. 25, 1957-Hartselle native and U.S. Senator John Sparkman said in a speech today that if war should break out there is a possibility that man would cease to exist as an occupant of the globe.
Sparkman, who recently returned from the Far East, said he is discouraged about who is winning the Cold War.
Nov. 26, 1957-Auburn, unbeaten and untied Southeastern conference leader, advanced to the top of the national football rankings today in the season’s semifinal AP poll.
Nov. 26, 1957-Quite a few from the Danville area went to Moulton tonight for a Jimmy Faulkner “home folks party.”
The gubernatorial candidate said that if he were elected he would make sure that old people got the $50 per month that has frequently been promised to them but which they have never gotten.
Nov. 27, 1957-Hartselle workers were disappointed last night when the Army Jupiter missile on which many of them have been working in Huntsville failed in a test at Cape Canaveral.
Nov. 28, 1957-Martha Hartselle, daughter of Mrs. Mahlon Hartselle, was designated recently as the most outstanding student at MCHS (a monthly award).
Martha, a senior, is a member of the FTA and FHA and plays the bass drum in the school band.
