Teams to feast on tourneys

For the second straight year, the Hartselle basketball team will spend the Thanksgiving break at home.
The Tigers will host the Hartselle Sporting Goods House Special beginning Wednesday at the Pettey Center.
The tournament will feature eight teams and each school will play four games in a four-day span.
The tournament opens with four games Wednesday, beginning at 3 p.m. Eight games will be played Friday and four more on Saturday.
Hartselle will play Athens at 7:30 p.m. on the opening day and the Tigers play Lawrence County and Decatur Heritage at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Friday.
The Tigers’ last game will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Hazel Green.
In other tournament action, Priceville will host a boys’ Thanksgiving tournament, while Brewer will host a girls’ invitational.
At Priceville, Sardis will face Falkville at 5 p.m. Friday with Danville taking on the host Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday’s games will be played at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Danville’s girls will participate in the Winfield Holiday Invitational against a field of talented programs. Most of the schools in the tournament will be larger schools.
Hartselle’s girls will participate in the Russellville tournament, an event that features several of the state’s top programs, including Hazlewood, Sheffield and Lauderdale County.
Lauderdale County has won three of the last six Class 3A state titles, while Sheffield won the 3A crown last season.
Hazlewood has been the state runnerup in Class 1A for the past three seasons.
Hartselle will face Lauderdale County at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Russellville Middle School.
The winner will face the Hazlewood-Sheffield winner Friday at 9 a.m.
The finals will be played Saturday afternoon at Russellville Middle School.
