A graveside service for Dorothy Stewart Lanier, 74, of Hartselle will be Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Sparkman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lanier died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Susan Lanier in West Chester, Ohio. She was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Hartselle to William H. Stewart and Opal Cross Stewart. She attended Hartselle schools, The University of Alabama, Wright McMahon Business School in California and Calhoun Community College. She was a retired nurse from Decatur General Hospital where she was employed for many years.
In addition to her son and daughter-in-law in Ohio, she is survived by another son, Thomas Cordar and wife Beth of Houston, Tex.; a daughter, Susan Sudduth and husband Aubrey of Flowood, Miss.; 10 grandchildren, Christina Hodges, John, Justin and Andrew Cordar, William, Benjamin, Andrew and Stone Lanier and Jack and Abbey Sudduth; two great-grandchildren, Murphy and Lily Hodges; a sister, Susan Stewart Greayer and husband Wesley of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; a brother, William H. Stewart and wife Connie of Tuscaloosa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice or the William Bradford Huie Library of Hartselle.
