Funeral for Lawrence McGillivray Jr., 79, of Vinemont was Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Steven Smith officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham.
Mr. McGillivray was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Dayton, Ohio to Lawrence McGillivray Sr. and Leita Wiggins McGillivray. He was a member of Lawrence Cove Baptist Church near Eva and a veteran of the U. S. Army and U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wives, Bennie Mae McGillivray and Mary Nell McGillivray, a daughter, Pamela Mae McGillivray, and three sisters, Dora Shaw, Marie Lowry and Elizabeth McGillivray.
He is survived by three sons, Lawrence Michael McGill-ivray of Morgan City and Al McGillivray and William Marion McGillivray, both of Oklahoma; two daughters, Mable M. Hyatt of Vinemont and Sharon L. Sparks of Springville; a brother, William Leslee McGillivray of New York, two daughters-in-law, Pamela Geniece McGillivray of Illinois and Kathy McGillivray of Oklahoma; three sisters, Leita Viola Eveland, Irene Evans and Mable Grace Salerno, all of New York; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family members and friends.
