Funeral for Marvin James Pitts, 79, of Hartselle was Monday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem West Missionary Baptist Church in West Point with Bro. Johnny Reid officiating and Rudder Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery.
Mr. Pitts died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Cumberland Health and Rehabilitation in Bridge-port. He was born Oct. 26, 1928. He was a retired construction electrician, a member of IBEW Local 175 and a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hendrix Pitts and Michael Caroline Drinkard Pitts, four brothers, Oscar, Paul, Hubert and Odis, and two sisters, Gertrude P Jones and Ida P. Whisenhunt.
He is survived by two daughters, Belinda Pitts Ballard of Stevenson and Shelia Pitts Cardwell and husband Alan of Decatur; a sister, Ann Pitts Williams of Stevenson; six grandchildren, Angel Ballard Roger and Luke Ballard, all of Stevenson, Chad Ballard and wife April of Bridgeport, Brooke Hill and husband Brian of Falkville and Josh Cardwell and Caleb Cardwell, both of Decatur; eight great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Scott Williams of Auburn.
