Hartselle Junior High School has received a $2,500 donation from Johnson Controls of Atlanta, Ga.
Barry Gillespie presented a check in that amount to Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed at a regular monthly meeting of the Hartselle School Board on Monday afternoon.
The money was not designated for a single purpose but HJHS principal Don Pouncey said he expects some of the money will be used to help support travel and related expenses for the school’s gifted students program.
In other matters, the school board approved a recommendation to move the school system’s checking account to Superior Bank in Hartselle, effective Jan. 1, 2008, with an interest rate equal to 65 percent of the New York Prime. The change will be effective for a three-year period.
