Funeral for Virginia Smith Carroll, 86, of Hartselle will be Thursday (today), Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Revs. Robert Sparkman and Harold Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Carroll died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Morgan County to Arthur Jackson Smith and Jamie Peck Smith. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle where she was a member of the Heritage Choir, 39 Plus, Rachel Circle and Haynes Sunday School Class. She also served as a Bulletin Engineer. She was a graduate of the University of Montevallo and a former resident of Centre and Florence. She was preceded in death by a brother, Hal Peck Smith.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Carroll of Hartselle; a daughter, Sharon Garmon Harper of Hartselle; a stepson, James David Carroll of Rising Fawn, Ga.; three brothers, Arthur Smith Jr. and Charles Smith, both of Hartselle and Dwayne Smith of Falkville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Harper, Kevin Harper, Scott Harper, Derek Harper, Freddy Carroll, Kenny Smith, Jim Smith and Tom McHugh.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Heritage Choir.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at First United Methodist Church, 210 East Hickory Street, Hartselle, AL 35640.
