City Council puts halt to annexations

Hartselle’s City Council is putting a halt to annexations until after the March 11 tax referendum.
The moratorium effects both residential and commercial property.
The moratorium is required so there are no precinct or voting changes until after the school tax referendum. All annexations must be approved by the Justice Department and annexations cannot take place until the referendum is held.
Hartselle voters will head to the polls March 11 to decide on a new property tax to fund a new high school.
