Lady Hawks wrap up area title

Danville Lady Hawks clinched the Class 3A, Area 11 regular season title with a dominating 68-32 win over Good Hope.
Alaina Fitzgerald had a double-double in the win with 14 points and 11 rebounds in only 18 minutes of playing time after getting into early foul trouble.
Danville opened the game on a 10-0 run and basically never looked back.
The Lady Hawks outscored Good Hope 19-8 in the second quarter to take a commanding 36-19 lead at the half.
Kayloni Cross led Danville in scoring with 15 points, while Ashley Nance added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Sarah Terry had also had eight rebounds for Danville, while Keenum and Lindsay Simmons both added seven points.
The win was the seventh in a row for the Lady Hawks, who improved to 10-4 overall.
The Lady Hawks will close out the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule Saturday at Speake.
Danville will play in the Walker High School Christmas Holiday Tournament in Jasper Dec. 27-29.
Danville 77, Hanceville 60
The combination of Alaina Fitzgerald and Ashley Nance proved to be too much for Hanceville to overcome as the two combined for 53 of Danville’s 77 points in the Lady Hawks 77-60 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
Fitzgerald had four 3-pointers in the first half, helping Danville to a 34-22 halftime lead.
Nance, who did not play in the first half, was unstoppable in the final two quarters. The freshman post player had 23 points and eight rebounds to help Danville stay undefeated in area play with a 4-0 mark.
Hanceville, led by La’Sheena Nation’s 26 points, made a run at the Hawks in the second half, closing the gap to 56-51 at one point. But a key steal by freshman guard Kayloni Cross started a 6-0 Danville run that put the game out of reach.
Fitzgerald finished with 30 points - 19 in the first half - and added 11 rebounds. Nance finished with 23 points.
Chelsea Keenum added 10 rebounds and finished with 11 assists.
Priceville 65, Ardmore 56
Priceville’s Keila Hamlin led the Lady Bulldogs to a win over Ardmore with an 18-point effort.
Adrianna Delatorre added 12 points for Priceville.
Ardmore’s Brittnay Miles and Courtney Pettus both finished with 12 points.
Hartselle 78, West Point 33
With 17-point efforts from both Alex Holmes and Jessi Smith, Hartselle ran to a 78-33 victory over West Point.
Holmes finished with a double-double in the game after adding 11 rebounds.
Katie Young finished with 13 points, while Anna Reeves had 10 points and six steals.
Hartselle limited West Point to just 11 points in the first half.
Hartselle 72, Cullman 38
Hartselle limited Cullman to just four points in the first quarter and cruised to the win over Cullman on the road.
The Lady Tigers led 19-4 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 20 points at the half.
Jessi Smith recorded a double-double for the Lady Tigers with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Heather Speegle finished with 12 points, while Alex Holmes had 10 points and five rebounds. Kimmie Minor and Katie Young both finished with eight points.
Kaitlin Faulkner was Hartselle’s leading rebounder with eight, while Lauren Dye chipped in with seven rebounds.
Priceville 50, Fairview 46
Priceville used a balanced scoring attack to get past Fairview 50-46 in a Class 4A, Area 15 matchup.
Callie Cox was the Lady Bulldogs’ leading scorer with 10 points, while Adrianna Delatorre and Abbie Harris finished with nine points each.
Brewer 69, Arab 41
Brewer shook off the effects of its first loss of the season with a 69-41 victory over Arab.
The win came just one day after the Lady Patriots were beaten by Florence on the road.
Brewer opened up a 39-15 advantage at the half.
Emily Dabbs scored 17 points to pace the Lady Patriots.
Meagan Hormel added 15 points, while Chelsey Smith and Morgan Crawley had 12 and 10 points respectively.
Danville 68, Good Hope 32
Danville won its 10th game of the year with an easy win over Good Hope.
Kayloni Cross scored 15 points to lead the Lady Hawks.
Alaina Fitzgerald finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Ashley Nance added 10 points and nine rebounds.
Chelsea Keenum grabbed eight rebounds in the win, while Lacey Evans had five assists.
Speake 64, Falkville 36
Alisha Sparkman scored 14 points for Falkville, while Lauren Estes added 10 in a loss to Speake.
Malea Hensley scored 30 points to pace Speake. Kylie Black added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Boys roundup
Hartselle 47, Cullman 45
Hartselle beat the Bearcats in Cullman for the first time in seven years Friday night with a strong finish.
Cullman led 22-20 at the half.
Alex Brown led the Tigers with 16 points, while Manquez Jones finished with 12 points.
Marquez Jones chipped in eight points, while Jeremy Roper grabbed six rebounds.
Hartselle outscored Cullman 14-5 over the final eight minutes to rally for the win.
The Tigers scored 21 points off Cullman turnovers.
Tanner 77, Falkville 59
Joseph Lacey scored a team-high 20 points in the Blue Devils’ loss to Tanner in a Class 2A, Area 15 matchup.
Tanner broke open a close game with a 31-15 run in the second half.
Latraius Mosley led Tanner with 36 points.
Chip Greenhaw added 13 points and 14 rebounds
Hartselle 77, West Point 37
Hartselle’s Alex Brown scored a season-high 41 points to send the Tigers to a 40-point win over West Point.
Russell Powell added 10 points for Hartselle, while Sam Fleischman finished with five rebounds.
Jeremy Roper chipped in with five steals for the Tigers.
McKinley Jones scored 11 points for West Point.
Speake 57, Falkville 53
Falkville put a scare into Speake before the Bobcats grabbed a 57-53 victory.
Justin Blanchard scored 15 points to pace Falkville, while Joseph Lacey added 12 points. Steven Lindsey finished with 11 points.
Dez Polk led three Speake scorers in double figures with 20 points.
Brewer 65, Arab 52
Cody Lanford scored 18 points and Brandon Murray added 11 as Brewer beat Arab by 10 points.
Brewer hit 23 of 26 free throws to seal the win.
Kyle Bowling and Houston Lanford both finished with eight points.
