Priceville teens killed in wreck

A 15-year-old Priceville girl was killed instantly and her 16-year- old companion was fatally injured in a one-vehicle accident on Upper River Road about one mile northeast of Priceville Thursday, Dec. 20, at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Christi Nicole Jernigan was killed when the car in which she was a passenger left a wet roadway and struck a tree. Morgan County Coroner Russ Bead pronounced her dead at the scene, the result of blunt force trauma.
The wreck occurred in a curve near the intersection of Upper River Road and Mussel Camp Road. She was wearing a seat belt.
Amberley Peppers, the driver, was airlifted by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital where she died Saturday, Dec. 22. She was not wearing a seat belt. Both girls were sophomores at Priceville High School and best friends.
The accident is still under investigation, according to State Troopers.
