Pray for peace in the coming year
I wish everyone a safe and happy New Year. I also encourage everyone to offer a special prayer for our country and our military personnel and their loved ones back home. I feel with all of my heart that if all of us would join forces in prayer and ask God to bring peace back to our nation, it would happen. This is my prayer for 2008.

Take time out to enjoy the holidays
So often during the Christmas season I find myself stressed out and way too busy. By doing this I’m allowing the true meaning of Christmas to not be a part of the most wonderful time of the year. Somehow we have let shopping, presents, and rush, rush, rush take over. Take the time during Christmas to sit down with family and friends and read the Christmas story found in Luke, Chapter 2.You would be amazed at how much difference it can make when we see how Jesus is the reason for the season.
Christian love and sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Louise Reeves, Jack May and Nicole Jernigan.
Remember in prayer this week: Brienna Anderson, JoAnn Bell, Martha Jean Blankenship (home from the hospital), Vera Couey, Rex Davis, Ravonia Dutton, Fran Eddy, Bobbie Eubanks, Stacey Flanigan (cancer), Dan Franks, Lynn Free, Bertha Hill, Lynn Hogan, Velvert Johnson, Delores Meek, Angela Mitchell, Horace Plemons, Ray Stinson (Summerford Nursing Home), Janice Turner, Andrew Vickers (16-year-old with cancer), and Charley Yeager. Also continue to remember our military personnel and their families in your prayers: Charlie Barna, Tyler Brannon, Cliff Ferrell (Korea), Jason Ferrell (Iraq), Zach Ferrell, Robert L. Hill III, Bobby Johnson, Steve Johnson (Iraq), Andrea Lambert, Charles “Chuck” Lancaster, Aaron Lawrence, Tony Locklear (Afghanistan), Wade Miller (Iraq), Jake Lemons, Luke Lemons, David Renfrew, Scott Schmitt and John Williams.
Happy belated birthday wishes go out to Mack Hatfield and Hannah Phillips, both on Dec. 25, and Kenneth Jenkins on Dec. 26, Zachary Lewis, Ed Allen and Brenda Cinnamon, all on Dec. 27, Brandi Terry and Andy Crow, both on Dec. 29 and Austin Borden and Larry Winton, both on Dec. 30.
Happy belated anniversary to Milton and Nicole Montgomery on Dec. 28 and Brock and Stephanie Wilson on Dec. 29.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy New Year.

The Falkville Elementary kindergarten class recently enjoyed a field trip to Huntsville to see the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus featuring Bello the clown.
The children, parents and teachers all enjoyed seeing Bello and his friends perform. Some favorite attractions were the trick poodles, tigers and the trapeze artists.
In an elementary school library fundraiser, children built their own animals. The students who sold more than 25 animals celebrated with a party Dec. 18 with their classmates.
An Animaland Party is similar to the Build the Bear concept you see at the mall, except the party is brought to your school.
The children get to help stuff their animals.
Winners were Jennifer Champion, Kaitlyn Tolbert, Alexis Padget, Caitlyn Robinson and Ethan Norwood.
