Funeral for Melba Elrod Upton, 77, of Falkville, formerly of Birmingham, was Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Brown officiating.
Burial was in Simcoe Methodist Cemetery in Cullman.
Mrs. Upton died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at her residence. She was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Jefferson County to Byron Elrod and Lois Sanford Elrod. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Ascension in Vestavia Hills ands was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm R. Upton and a sister, Sue E. Short.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Neill of Falkville and Susan Brown of Birmingham; eight grandchildren, Thomas C. Neill Jr. of San Diego, Calif., Amy Neill Estes of Prattville, Julie C. Neill and Hayley Burgess both of Hartselle and Andrea Gemmil, Thad Pilkington and Heather Brown, all of Birmingham and Holly Brown of Kentucky.
