Funeral for James R. Carroll, 97, of Hartselle was Monday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Revs. Robert Sparkman and Bobby Ray Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Carroll died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 26, 1910, in Jonesville, Va. to John and Emma Carroll. A 1940 graduate of VPI, he was an agricultural engineer and a rural electric representative engineer for TVA for 17 years. He retired in 1973. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Carroll, a brother, L. Eugene Carroll and a sister, Dora Thomas.
He is survived by a son, James Davis Carroll of Rising Fawn, Ga.; a daughter, Sharon Garmon Harper of Hartselle; a sister, Maude Snodgrass of Virginia; six grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers were Chris Harper, Kevin Harper, Scott Harper, Derek Harper, Tom McHugh and Kenny Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Heritage Choir.
