Funeral for Bonnie Sue Shepherd, 77, of Decatur was Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Bailey and Bryan Chaffee officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur.
Mrs. Shepherd died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital, after a sudden illness. She married the love of her life, Wilmer “Shep” Shepherd, on Sept. 20, 1947, and they together traveled the world during his career, leaving life-long friends across three continents. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Dorothy Mulford and Evie Faye Westmoreland. She worked for several years at Castner Knott (Dillard’s).
She is survived by her husband, Wilmer “Shep” Shepherd of Decatur; a son, Joe Shepherd of Missoula, Mont.; three daughters, Suzanne Randolph of Danville, Judy Shepherd of Redondo Beach, Calif. and Jan Chaffee of Oldsmar, Fla; a brother, Gerald Cantley of Shreveport, La.; a sister, Gaynell Cascio of Shreveport, La.; two sisters-in-law, Billie Jean Shepherd and Viola Shepherd, both of Mooringsport, La.; a grandson, Nick Digirolamo of Florida; three granddaughters, Amy Garnett of Hartselle, Lisa Thomas of Cullman and Marla Cox of Danville; and seven great-grandchildren, Hunter Garnett, Haley Garnett, Karlie Garnett, Kylee Thomas, Kaina Thomas, Braden Cox and Carson Cox. Pallbearers were Nick Digirolamo, Len Cox, James Thomas, Chris Garnett, Hunter Garnett and John Mullican.
Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandsons, Braden Cox and Carson Cox.
