Wallace making his marks

Brandon Wallace has put up some pretty impressive statistics during his college baseball career.
The senior righthander at the University of Alabama at Birmingham led the Blazers in saves in his first season in the program.
He didn’t allow a homerun in 63 innings of work.
It’s a pretty good body of work for the former Hartselle standout.
He might be proudest of his work off the mound, though.
Wallace was one of six UAB baseball players to finish the fall semester with perfect 4.0 grade point averages. In fact, 20 of the Blazer players had GPAs of 3.0 or better.
Wallace’s game is good. His academics are even better. Last year, he was named to Conference USA’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He also earned presidential honors while playing at Shelton State two years ago.
Wallace was a solid student at Hartselle, maintaining a B-average in high school, but he has put an added importance on his education after graduation.
Majoring in health sciences, Wallace hopes to eventually go to graduate school.
Right now, though, Wallace has some business to take care of on the mound. A starter until last season, Wallace hopes to return to his job in the bullpen this season.
But whatever role the UAB coaches decide on for Wallace, he’ll attack it the same way he hits the books:with a good attitude.
