Orr introduces physician legislation

State Sen. Arthur Orr and Senate Majority Leader Zeb Little will join in sponsoring bi-partisan legislation that provides basic liability coverage to retired physicians who volunteer in free health clinics across the state.
Orr, who helped start Decatur’s Community Free Clinic for the working poor and serves on its board, said the legislation will provide retired physicians volunteering in free clinics with the same liability coverage that the State of Alabama provides to state employees and other agents working on its behalf.
Little also has a free clinic located in his legislative district and stressed the need for measures that encourage volunteerism and community participation.
Both Orr and Little said they hope their bi-partisan efforts will transcend the political rancor and gamesmanship that has dominated previous legislative sessions.
