SNAP project receives boost from state
By Staff
Plans for a playground for special-needs children in Morgan County got a boost from the state this week.
Hartselle was notified it will be receiving $20,000 from the state to assist with purchase of playground equipment. The playground is a project of Hartselle’s civic clubs. It will be built at Sparkman Park and designed to serve the more than 1,700 special-needs children in Morgan County.
Mayor Dwight Tankersley said Sen. Arthur Orr was instrumental in SNAP receiving the money.
The $20,000 will be used to install a handicap-accessible swing purchased by Hartselle Civitans. The money will come through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
