The director of Morgan County’s Animal Shelter is looking for homes for 29 pit bull dogs, including seven puppies, after they were rescued from a home on Simmons Road last week.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department conducted the sting at the home of Ashley Dale Adams, 24, of 28 Simmons Road in Hartselle. Agents found marijuana and prescription medication at the home. They also found the pit bull dogs inside the house, which was littered with animal feces.
The dogs were taken to the Morgan County Animal Shelter, where Director Claudia Ray is now faced with the difficult task of finding them homes.
Ray said there are rescue units that work to help save pit bulls.
Ray said because some pit bulls are aggressive, the shelter has to be careful in how they are placed.
Adams was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He may also face cruelty to animal charges.
A juvenile found at the home was also removed and the Department of Humane Resources was contacted due to the living conditions.
