Funeral for Annie Lou Goggans Freeman, 79, of Cullman was Friday, Feb. 15, at 12:00 noon at Moss Funeral Home Chapel in Cullman.
Burial was in Cullman City Cemetery.
Mrs. Freeman died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at her residence. She was a registered nurse who was employed at Hartselle Medical Center for many years. Even after her retirement she continued to care for others. She was known for her kindness and generosity toward others and was often heard whistling throughout the day. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Cullman and had been a member of Etha Baptist Church for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She quietly lived her life using her Christian values to make a difference in the lives of people she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents W.E. Goggans and Cora Self Goggans; and six siblings, Gene Goggans, Wren Goggans, Chester Goggans, Clarence Goggans, Ruth Popwell and Sarah Kretschmar.
She is survived by her husband, Horace “Shorty” Freeman of Cullman; two sons, George Freeman and wife Vicky and Glenn Freeman and wife Leigh McWilliams; three daughters, Mona Thompson and husband Mike, Karen Messersmith and husband John and Ginger Freeman and husband Scott Bennett; eight grandchildren, Pat Freeman and wife Debbie, Krissy Freeman, Nicholas Bartlett, Megan Bartlett, Brooklyn Thompson, Mallory Messersmith. Tommy Messersmith, and Katie Freeman; a great-grandchild, Cole Freeman; three siblings, Clara Lackey, George Goggans and James Goggans; and many nephews, nieces and close friends.
