Funeral for Marvin Joshua Pettit, 102, of Hartselle was Friday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Hines and Michael Whisenant officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. Pettit died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. He was born Nov. 24, 1905, in Morgan County to John Pettit and Mary Hopper Pettit. He was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for 32 years. He was owner of Pettit’s Dry Cleaners for 42 years and a member of the Morgan County Cattlemen’s Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lulu Pettit; a son, James Dwight Pettit; a daughter, Marilyn Pettit Guthrie; a brother, Leo Pettit; and a sister, Irene Cryer.
He is survived by two grandsons, Bob Pettit and wife Amy of Hartselle and John David Guthrie; three granddaughters, Kristy Liverett and husband Bryan of Decatur, Dr. Debbi Whisenant and husband Michael of Gardendale and Leslie Guthrie; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Pettit Crow; and six great-grandchildren, James Joshua Pettit, Caroline Pettit, Dakota Liverett, Drake Liverett, Erin Whisenant and Rachael Whisenant.
Pallbearers were deacons of Hartselle Church of Christ.
