Funeral for Doyle A. Looney, 71, of Ypsilanti, Mich. was Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Walker Harris officiating.
Burial was in Cherry Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Looney was born May 12, 1936, in Hartselle to John and Beatrice Johnson Looney. He died Feb. 14, 2008, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 33 years of service and also retired from Ford Motor Company (Sheldon Road Plant) after 30 years.
He was a member of the Belleville Masons, the Plymouth VFW and Belleville Free Will Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved his Red Wings and Detroit Tigers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Looney.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dotty Mullins Looney; two sons, Jonathan Looney and wife Vicky of Hillsdale, Mich. and Matthew Looney and wife Elizabeth of Livonia, Mich.; two daughters, Cynthia Miskell and husband Ricky of Milan, Mich. and Julie Crawforth and husband Pete of Ypsilanti; a sister, Sarah Gupton of Alabama; five brothers, Vernon Looney and wife Brenda of Au Gres, Mich., Bobby Looney and wife Nancy of Hartselle, Forrest Looney and John Neal Looney, both of Alabama, and Donald Looney and wife Lana of Florida; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews nieces and sisters- and brothers-in-law.
