Funeral for Raymon J. Baker, 85, of Decatur will be Thursday, Mar. 6, at 11 a.m. at First Bible Church in Decatur with the Revs. Steve Bateman and James Raiford officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mr. Baker died Sunday, Mar. 2, 2008, at his residence. He was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Decatur to Troy Eugene Baker and Maude Elizabeth Srygly Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Baker.
He was a member of First Bible Church. He founded Baker Industries in Hartselle in 1958, served in World War II as a U.S. Army Air Force pilot, and was a philanthropist and a graduate of the University of Alabama.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Russell Baker of Decatur; two daughters, Cindy A. Strickland and husband Edwin of Birmingham and Becky Wachholz and husband Dr. Jeffrey Wachholz of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a sister, Bessie Mae Glasscock of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Mike Curl, Rick Paler, Calvin Brown, Steve Baggs, Dr. Steve Chandler, Barrett Shelton, George Norwood, Charles Reid and Don Foster.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Cook, Ralph Jones, Dick Watkins, Gilmer Blackburn, Mark Maloney, Tom Caddell, Bill Sexton, Britt Sexton, Wayne Gute, Dr. Conley Duncan Sr. and John Parker.
