A string of drug busts last week landed Hartselle, Somerville and Decatur residents behind bars.
Edwin Sutton Jr., 49, of 1903 Pinehurst Street SW in Hartselle, is charged with unlawful manufacturing in the first degree. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department and Hartselle Police Department searched Sutton’s home March 12. Agents found a “Shake and Bake,” or a pot cooking type lab inside the home. He is being held in the Morgan County Jail until a bond can be set by the judge.
A separate search the same day resulted in charges against two people in Somerville. Agents executed a search warrant at 17 Madden Branch. Agents located a one-pot clandestine methamphetamine laboratory.
Melissa Hughes, 26, is charged with first degree manufacturing. She is being held on a $1 million bond. A warrant was also issued for Arvil Dewayne Charest, 32. His bond was also set at $1 million.
On March 11, an undercover operation in Decatur led to the arrest of Cortez Moody, 19. Moody is charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. He is being held on $1,000 bond.
