Adams steps away from court

Greg Adams’ decision, even though tough, was easy for the Hartselle girls’ basketball coach in the end.
He decided to walk away from a coaching job he loved to spend more time with the family he loves even more.
And with that simple statement, Adams’ tenure as the Lady Tigers’ coach was over.
Adams, who has won more than 207 games in 11 years at Hartselle, missed several of his son Preston’s basketball games this season and he didn’t want to miss another one.
He and his wife, Leslie, also have a daughter, Olivia, who will be at Auburn next fall and that weighed in his decision.
Adams’ resignation, which was given to Hartselle principal Jerry Reeves Monday morning, wasn’t a total surprise to the Lady Tiger players. But it didn’t mean the announcement was any less emotional, especially for the seniors who have been with Adams since their days playing AAU basketball in grade school.
The Hartselle administration will begin a search to find a replacement for Adams, but it won’t be an easy task.
But Adams knows that he won’t be able to get far from a basketball court, even if his high schoolcoaching career has come to an end.
