Funeral for Shirley Ann Allen, 63, of Oak Ridge community was Tuesday, Apr. 8, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Wendell Callahan officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Allen died Saturday, Apr. 5, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1944, in Oak Ridge to Arlo Legg and Trudy Childers Legg. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmothers and always called for her Maw Childers during her sickness. She was a Baptist. She loved yard sales and Allen Jackson music and her pet dog, Nickie. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and two brothers, Floyd and Julius Legg. She is survived by her husband, Buford Lee Allen Sr. of Oak Ridge; a son, Buford Lee Allen Jr. of Oak Ridge; two grandsons, Zachary Ross Allen and Dustin Blake King, both of Oak Ridge; a sister, Martha Yates of Michigan; and her best friend, Linda Johnson of Decatur. Pallbearers were Mike Haggermaker, Grady Allen, Zachary Allen, Dwight Hill, Benjamin Townson, Kelly Townson, Gary Hawkins, Stephen Maples and Lynn Estes. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Driver, Dustin King and Oliver Townson.
The family expresses special thanks to Parkway Medical Center’s staff and especially Dr. Akram Haggag for going above and beyond the call of duty.
