Thirty nabbed in bad check roundup

Some 30 people were arrested as a result of the Morgan County District Attorney’s latest bad check roundup. DA Bob Burrell said the value of the cases of those arrested add up to just under $68,000.
Some 250 warrants were cleared and $22,000 was recovered by the check unit for county merchants. Some $43,000 was recovered in court costs and restitution for county courts.
A significant number of restitution cases handled during this roundup were worthless check cases where the defendant failed to pay court ordered restitution to victims.
Burrell said he is grateful to the agencies participating in the operation: Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Decatur Police Department, Falkville Police Department and Hartselle Police Department.
