Board moves ahead with HJHS upgrade

Hartselle School Board accepted a low bid of $285,102 from Dykes Restaurant Supply of Huntsville for the renovation of the cafeteria at Hartselle Junior High School at its regular meeting Monday night. The project also received a bid of $348,140 from Rick Hall Construction of Hartselle.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed said work would begin in the kitchen about May 1.
For the remainder of the school year lunches will be brought in from outside and the dining area will remain open.
The board also approved making application for District Southern Association of Colleges and Schools ( SACS) Accreditation.
Crestline first grader Jordan Hale was presented an engraved plaque for winning a first place state award in a Reading Rainbow writing contest.
