Funeral for Zella Lee Sharp Winton, 100, of Somerville was Saturday, Apr. 26, at 2 p.m. at Center Springs United Methodist Church with Robert Lee, John Dwain Lee and Steve Pilkington officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Winton died Wednesday, Apr. 23, 2008, at Falkville Health Care Center. She was born March 14, 1908, in Morgan County to John Houston Sharp and Eva Leona Breeding Sharp. She was the widow of James Richard Winton and a member of Center Springs United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She had lived most of her life in the Winton-Center Springs community. After her parents both died in a flu epidemic in the early 1920s, she was raised by her father’s brother and his wife and her uncle and aunt, O.T. and Lilly Sharp.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Ann Lee and husband John W. of Decatur and Nancy Humphries and husband Gene of Somerville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
Grandsons and great-grandsons were pallbearers.
