Funeral for Carl E. Parker, 89, of Hartselle was Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy VanLandingham officiating.
Burial with military honors was in Burningtree Cemetery.
Mr. Parker died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital. He was a member of Moss Chapel United Methodist Church and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a construction foreman with Company C, 151st Engineer Combat Battalion in the Aleutian Islands. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one bronze star, the American Defense Ribbon with one bronze star, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Byrd Parker, a granddaughter, Samantha Rose, a bother, Will Vest and two sisters, Hattie Waddell and Lexie Smith.
He is survived by a son, Charles Parker of Gadsden; four daughters, Carleen White and husband Joe of Danville, Carolyn Nelson and husband Larry of Moulton, Brenda Puckett and husband Joe of Falkville and Donna Rose and husband Lane of Hartselle; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his extended family at Sunbridge Health and Rehab in Decatur.
Pallbearers were Danny White, Jason Nelson, Ethan Rose, Theron Livingston, Steve Poole and Tim Self.
