Click it or Ticket is back this year
By Staff
Law enforcement officers will be out in full force in the coming weeks as part of the annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign. The campaign will last from May 19 – June 1 and will include increased enforcement of Alabama’s seatbelt laws.
Those who fail to buckle up will be issued a ticket with a $25 fine.
In 2006, some 1,208 people were killed in Alabama traffic crashes. Nighttime motorists and young men are the most vulnerable to deadly crashes. Seventy-three percent of male passenger vehicle occupants between the ages of 18-34 who were killed in crashes were not wearing seatbelts.
Also, the belt usage rate of all those ages 16-24 was lower than any other age group.
