Letters to the editor

FEB thanks its volunteers
Editor:
I’ve heard for many years the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and this is certainly a valid truism. It takes unselfish giving with no thought of recognition to protect and guide our present learners and future leaders. Over the past few years, F.E. Burleson has received the gifts of many volunteers’ hours. Many caring listeners have patiently sat and listened to budding readers. We thank them all, publicly and now. They know who they are. Next school year, if others would like to receive the joy that comes from listening to emerging readers, you may call and volunteer at the beginning of the new school year. We will find you a place to listen. We have also received the gifts of many, many carefully collected books by one individual, Marcia Castlebury. These complete classroom sets and other books of quality literature have allowed many great books to be shared by whole classrooms and individual students. Thank you, Marcia. You are a generous friend of learning.

Dr. Sherrill cared about all
Editor:
He cared! This accurately described Dr. Fred O. Sherrill Jr.
He cared about our health, our families, our spiritual needs, our financial needs, our success and failures. He was alway there for his patients. He will be missed by all who knew him.
