Hames paces local runners

Priceville’s Matthew Hames and Jonathan Lindsey of Hartselle both finished in the top 200 of the 2008 Mercedes-Benz Cotton Row Run held Monday in Huntsville.
The 10k race had 1,606 finishers including a strong field of foreign runners.
The 27-year-old Hames ran the course in 46:08 to finish 189th overall. He was 21st in the men’s 25-29 age division.
Lindsey clocked in at 46:34 to finish 199th overall in the race. He was 24th in the men’s 25-19 age group.
Hartselle’s Brant Garner finished 218th overall with a time of 47:10. He was 24th in his age group.
Several other local runners had top 25 age group finishes, including Hartselle’s John Zingarelli and Julie Zingarelli.
John Zingarelli was 21st in the men’s 55-59 age divison with a time of 52:42, while Julie Zingarelli finished 12th in the women’s 45-49 age group.
Julie Zingarelli ran the course in 54:09 as the top local female finisher in the race.
David Pike of Danville ran a 56:36 and was 22nd in the men’s 14-16 age division.

The 5K race had 1,233 finishers Monday.
Hartselle’s Ron Puckett, 45, was 151st overall with a time of 25:55.
Danville’s Matthew Brown ran the Cotton Row course in 16:06 to pick up a 157th overall finish.
