Players earn state honors

Hartselle senior Kristi Pevahouse and junior Audrey McClanahan, key ingredients in the Lady Tigers’ runnerup finish in the Class 5A state tournament this season, both earned all-state honors from the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
Pevahouse hit .412 this season with a team-high 43 RBIs. She also had 17 doubles and nine homers for the Lady Tigers.
McClanahan, Hartselle’s second baseman, hit .405 with 29 stolen bases. She finished with 16 doubles and six homers.
The Lady Tigers’ Breanna Riley, who finished 24-11 overall, was an honorable mention selection.
Danville first baseman Mallory George and third baseman Kelsey Bell earned first-team all-state honors in Class 3A.
George led the Lady Hawks with a .433 average, driving in 30 runs in her senior season. She finished with 44 hits.
Bell finished with a .407 batting average and 29 RBIs. She also had six homers, all coming in the final two weeks of the season.
Bell had 44 hits for Danville.
Baseball
Hartselle staff ace J.C. Bates earned first-team all-state honors in Class 5A after posting a 13-3 mark this season.
Bates, who lost just once in the final six weeks of the season, finished with a 2.17 ERA for the Tigers in 23 appearances.
In Class 3A, Danville had four players earn honorable mentions. Making the ASWA all-state list were junior catcher Parker Hogan (.422, 33 RBIs), senior first baseman Roger Smith (.457, 38 RBIs) and senior outfielders Bryan Rogers (.363, 34 RBIs) and Dakota Wilson (.366, 11 doubles).
