Supt. Reed: No deal made with Reeves

Hartselle City Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed said on Wednesday no deal has been made to transfer Hartselle High School Principal Jerry Reeves to the central office position of director of school operations and student services. However, he acknowledged that a meeting with Reeves was on his schedule for later in the day.
A description of the new position was approved by the school board at its regular meeting Monday night and the position was posted on the Alabama Department of Education website. It was later removed when it was discovered that a salary range was not included and a special meeting was called for Thursday (today) at 6 p.m. to take care of the omission.
Reed said the position does not increase the staff of the central office but represents a consolidation of responsibilities of more than one existing job.
We will re-post the position after the board approves a salary range,” Reed pointed out. “If Jerry is interested in pursuing it we’ll talk about it. “But our meeting on Wednesday is not an interview. I’m open to meeting with and discussing the position with anyone else in the system who is qualified.”
Reeves has served as principal at the high school for 20 years.
