Two charged in drug trafficking ring

The investigation of a suspected drug rings with operations stretching from Morgan County to Texas, California and Mexico has led to the arrest of several with local ties.
U.S. Attorney Alice Martin and Greg Borland, assistant special agent in charge, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced the arrest of 33 people in connection with the investigation.
Hartselle residents included in the indictment were Ramon Barakas, 26,and Martha Rosa Sanchez, 33. Both are charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana.
They face up to 10 years to life in prison and a fine of $4 million.
Sanchez also faces money laundering charges. These charges bring up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.
