Two people are behind bars facing charges related to three robberies, including one in Falkville.
Kenny Don Holmes, 24, of 8842 County Road 434 in Trinity and Crystal Leigh Cartee of 609 Cockrell Ave. SW in Decatur each face three counts of first degree robbery. They also face charges of possession of prohibited liquor and Holmes is charged with third degree escape and Cartee with reckless driving.
Decatur Police said the two are suspects in a June 28 robbery at Wally World Convenience Store in southwest Decatur and the Chevron station on Highway 20, as well as another robbery in Falkville. Holmes allegedly threatened the Wally World clerk with a screwdriver while demanding money from the register. Police said Cartee waited outside while Holmes fled with cash and cigarettes and the two left together.
Later that night, police said the two went to the Chevron store and Holmes allegedly threatened the clerk there with a screwdriver and demanded money. He left the store with cash, beer and a jewelry case. Police said Cartee pretended to be a concerned customer and yelled to the clerk she was calling 911, in what they said was an attempt to keep the clerk from calling for help.
The two went on to Falkville where they allegedly committed a third robbery. They were stopped by police as they left Falkville Chevron on 280 Buster Road following a high speed chase. Video surveillance systems from Wally World and Chevron identified them as suspects in those robberies.
Holmes is being held on $251,050 bond. Cartee is being held on $35,300 bond.
